It only happens on the matrix, and is somewhat annoying... until I turn the volume up! ;) I guess the disc is a bit funny, and causes unexpected noises! If you use analog playback (via the internal cable) the CDROM slider controls the input volume level of the audio CD playback, and the WAV slider has no effect. However, if I wanted to play DVDs with a DVD-ROM drive, would I need to connect *that* to the sound card? Again, I probably won't be listening to audio CDs
